Odoo Community or Enterprise, which do we need?

Community is free and open-source and covers a surprising amount: inventory, sales, purchasing, and basic accounting. Enterprise adds full double-entry accounting with bank reconciliation, the studio customizer, better reporting, and the mobile and OCR features, on a per-user subscription. We decide in discovery based on which modules you need. Many of our SMB clients start on Community and move to Enterprise when accounting or a specific Enterprise-only module justifies the per-seat cost. We will not push you onto Enterprise to pad a bill.

Will Odoo fit US accounting and tax?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Odoo supports a US chart of accounts, US sales tax, 1099 vendor tracking, and bank reconciliation, and Enterprise has the stronger accounting tooling for it. We configure it to US GAAP-style books with your accountant in the loop, and where US-specific tax handling needs help we integrate the tax engine your team already trusts rather than reinventing it.

Can you migrate us from QuickBooks?

Yes, this is one of the most common moves we do. We bring over your chart of accounts, customers, vendors, products, and open balances, stage it, and reconcile against QuickBooks before cutover so your trial balance matches on day one. Historical detail beyond opening balances we handle case by case, since most teams keep QuickBooks read-only for old years rather than importing everything.

Do you build custom Odoo modules?

Yes. When your process does not fit Odoo's defaults, we write proper custom modules in Python rather than hacking the core, so upgrades do not break you. We also use Odoo Studio for lighter customizations your team can maintain. The principle is the same as our other work: extend the platform cleanly so you still own and can upgrade it.

Should we use Odoo or NetSuite or another ERP?

For SMB and mid-market companies moving up from spreadsheets and QuickBooks, we lead with Odoo: it is far cheaper to license, open-source at its core, and extensible in Python. NetSuite and the larger suites make sense at greater scale or when you already run one. We scope those when there is a real reason, but we will not talk you into enterprise licensing your business does not need yet.

Can you host and run Odoo for us?

Yes. We deploy Odoo on Docker, which you can host on your own infrastructure or under a managed agreement with us. We avoid lock-in to any single cloud so your ERP stays portable. Odoo's own cloud is also an option for Enterprise, and we will lay out the tradeoffs honestly.

Will you train our team and support us after go-live?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We train each department on the modules they use, leave an admin runbook, and stay on call through go-live. Most clients keep us on an ongoing admin retainer for module additions, year-end accounting setup, and version upgrades, since Odoo ships major releases yearly.
